Hello everyone! 👋✨ How are you all doing? I hope you’ve had a lovely couple of weeks and that life has been treating you kindly. 💖 As always, before we jump into today’s blog post, I thought I’d start with a little life update because quite a few things have been happening behind the scenes recently!
First up, an update on the dentist situation. If you read my last post, you’ll know I was waiting to hear whether my dentist’s referral would be accepted by the hospital. My mum and I decided to give it a couple of weeks before chasing it up, just to give them enough time to process everything and hopefully get back to us.
Well, after waiting two weeks, we eventually had to ring the dentist ourselves to find out what was happening, only to discover that they’d actually contacted the hospital shortly after my appointment. Unfortunately, the hospital informed them that they no longer offer that particular service and that I would need to seek treatment privately instead. To be honest, I had already prepared myself for the possibility that the referral wouldn’t go through, so I wasn’t particularly disappointed by that part. What frustrated me most was that nobody thought to contact me to let me know what was going on. 😤 It would have saved a lot of waiting and uncertainty!
On the positive side, I’ve now emailed several private dentists to see if any of them would be willing to take on my case, so at the moment it’s another waiting game while I see what responses come back. Fingers crossed that one of them can help and point me in the right direction. 🤞🏼✨ The house hunt is still ongoing, and recently we viewed a couple more properties. Sadly, neither of them felt quite right for us. You know when you walk into a house and can instantly imagine yourself living there? Well, these definitely didn’t give us that feeling. 😅 They weren’t terrible properties by any means, but they felt a little too small for what we’re looking for, and neither of them had that special feeling that makes somewhere feel like home. Because of that, we weren’t too disappointed after the viewings, as it quickly became clear they probably weren’t the right fit for us. The search isn’t over yet, though! In fact, we actually have another viewing later today, so who knows what might happen? Maybe this one will surprise us. I’m trying to stay positive and remind myself that the right home is out there somewhere — it’s just a matter of finding it. 🏠✨ As I mentioned in my last post, my mum recently attended her pre-operative assessment appointment. Things then moved surprisingly quickly because last Tuesday she received a phone call to arrange the date for her surgery, which actually took place yesterday. Although the surgeons decided not to carry out exactly the same procedure that she’d had previously, everything still went well, which was the most important thing. ❤️ She’s now back home recovering and taking things easy while she regains her strength. Honestly, it feels like everything has happened at lightning speed recently. Between appointments, phone calls, house viewings, and surgery preparations, there hasn’t really been much time to stop and catch our breath. Life has felt incredibly busy, and before we knew it, another week had flown by. Hopefully things will begin to settle down a little now, and we can focus on recovery and getting back into a more normal routine. 🥰 Despite everything that’s been going on, we did manage to get out and about for a little while during the warmer weather. One of the places we visited was Southport, which was somewhere I’d been looking forward to visiting. Unfortunately, the experience wasn’t quite as enjoyable as we’d hoped. While not everyone was unfriendly, we did encounter quite a few people who weren’t particularly considerate, especially when it came to accessibility. As wheelchair users know, navigating busy places can already be challenging enough without people making things more difficult. There were several occasions where people cut in front of us rather than allowing us space to pass, and I was also knocked into by a couple of people who simply carried on walking without so much as an apology. 😔 As many of you know, I’m still struggling with costochondritis, so any knocks to my ribs are particularly painful at the moment. Unsurprisingly, that didn’t help matters and left me feeling rather sore afterwards. Thankfully, not everyone we encountered was like that, and we still tried to make the most of our day. Experiences like that do make you appreciate kindness and consideration all the more, though. A little patience and awareness can make such a huge difference to somebody else’s day. 💖 With everything that’s been happening lately, we haven’t had many opportunities to get out and explore. However, one place we did manage to visit recently offered a completely different experience — somewhere peaceful, inspiring, and surrounded by beautiful Yorkshire countryside. 🌿✨Which leads me nicely into this week’s blog post, where I’ll be taking you along on a visit to Yorkshire Sculpture Park, a place where art and nature come together to create something truly special. 🎨
Now that we’ve caught up on everything that’s been happening lately, it’s time to move on to this week’s blog post! 😊 As many of you know, I absolutely love discovering beautiful places across Yorkshire, whether that’s hidden gems, popular attractions, or somewhere that offers a little escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. This week’s destination is somewhere that perfectly combines creativity, nature, and stunning scenery, making it a wonderful place to explore at your own pace. 🌿✨ I’ve been looking forward to sharing this one with you, so let’s take a closer look at one of Yorkshire’s most unique and inspiring attractions. 📸🎨
🌿 Finding Beauty Between Art and Nature: A Day at Yorkshire Sculpture Park 🎨

Today’s blog post is all about one of Yorkshire’s most unique attractions, a place where art, nature, and peaceful countryside come together to create something truly special. 🌳🎨
Nestled within the beautiful Yorkshire landscape, Yorkshire Sculpture Park offers visitors the chance to explore world-class artwork while wandering through rolling hills, lakes, woodlands, and open parkland. It’s not your typical art gallery, and that’s exactly what makes it so memorable.
Whether you’re an art enthusiast, a photography lover, someone who enjoys a gentle walk in nature, or simply looking for a relaxing day out, Yorkshire Sculpture Park has something for everyone.
So grab a cosy drink, get comfortable, and join me as I take you on a journey through one of Yorkshire’s most fascinating destinations. ☕✨

🌳 First Impressions: More Than Just an Art Gallery
From the moment I arrived, it was clear that Yorkshire Sculpture Park was unlike anywhere else I’d visited before.
Instead of walking, or in my case wheeling (via my wheelchair), into a building filled with paintings and exhibits, I was greeted by vast open landscapes stretching into the distance. Rolling green hills, peaceful lakes, ancient trees, and winding pathways instantly created a sense of calm.
There was something incredibly refreshing about being outdoors while experiencing art. The fresh Yorkshire air, the sounds of birds singing, and the open countryside made the whole visit feel much more immersive than a traditional gallery experience.
Every direction seemed to reveal another stunning view, making it difficult to know where to look first.

🎨 Art Without Walls
One of the things that makes Yorkshire Sculpture Park so special is the way the artwork blends naturally into the environment.
Rather than being confined to a gallery space, sculptures appear throughout the landscape, creating moments of surprise and curiosity as you explore.
Some pieces stand proudly on hilltops, while others seem almost hidden amongst trees or beside lakes. Each artwork interacts differently with its surroundings, meaning that weather, lighting, and even the seasons can completely change how a sculpture feels.
What I particularly enjoyed was that there wasn’t any pressure to understand every piece perfectly. Art is personal, and everyone will take something different away from it. Sometimes a sculpture makes you think deeply, while other times it simply catches your eye because it looks interesting against the backdrop of the Yorkshire countryside.

🚶♀️ Slowing Down and Exploring
One of my favourite things about the visit was how it encouraged me to slow down.
Life can often feel busy and overwhelming, and it’s easy to rush from one thing to the next without fully appreciating what’s around us. Yorkshire Sculpture Park felt like the perfect reminder to take things at a gentler pace.
The walking routes invite you to wander rather than hurry. There are plenty of benches, peaceful viewpoints, and quiet corners where you can simply stop and take everything in.
As I explored, I found myself paying more attention to the little things — sunlight reflecting on the water, leaves moving in the breeze, and sculptures appearing unexpectedly around corners.
Sometimes the best days out aren’t necessarily the busiest; they’re the days that let you slow down and simply enjoy the moment. 🌿💚

📸 A Photographer’s Dream
If you enjoy photography as much as I do, Yorkshire Sculpture Park is an absolute dream.
Every path seems to lead to another beautiful viewpoint, and every sculpture offers a new opportunity for creative photographs.
The contrast between modern artwork and natural landscapes creates endless possibilities for capturing unique images. Reflections in the lakes, dramatic skies above the hills, and sculptures framed by trees all make fantastic subjects.
Even if you’re not a professional photographer, it’s almost impossible to leave without a camera roll full of memories.
I found myself constantly stopping to take photos because every turn revealed something new worth capturing.
💭 What I Loved Most
While the sculptures are undoubtedly the main attraction, what stayed with me most was the overall atmosphere.
There was a wonderful sense of peace throughout the park, making it feel like an escape from everyday life.
The combination of art, nature, fresh air, and open space created an experience that was both inspiring and relaxing at the same time.
It’s one of those places where you can spend hours exploring without ever feeling rushed, and where every visitor can create their own unique experience depending on what catches their attention.
For me, Yorkshire Sculpture Park wasn’t simply about viewing artwork; it was about enjoying the journey between each piece and appreciating the beautiful landscape that surrounds it.

✨ Final Thoughts

Whether you’re visiting for the art, the photography opportunities, the walking trails, or simply a peaceful day outdoors, there’s something incredibly special about spending time here.
