Hello guys, how are you all? ๐ I hope youโve had a lovely week since my last post and have managed to find a little bit of time for yourselves amongst all the chaos of everyday life ๐ Mine has definitely been a bit of a rollercoaster recently with lots going on emotionally, mentally and physically, so I feel like this weekโs post is a good opportunity to sit down, have a little catch up and chat about everything thatโs been happening lately โโจ Unfortunately, things got quite worrying at the end of last week after my great aunt ended up in hospital following a mini stroke ๐ It was really upsetting news to hear, especially because after only having one scan done she was sent back home not long afterwards, which honestly didnโt sit right with any of us. She then had to return to the hospital for further tests which, in my opinion, shouldโve been carried out there and then instead of her having to go through all that stress and palaver again ๐ Thankfully sheโs doing much better now and seems to be recovering well, but itโs still been emotionally difficult as the whole situation brought back memories of what happened with my Nan before she sadly passed away. Iโd like to think my Nan has been watching over her and keeping her safe through it all ๐ค๐ผ๐ค Alongside all of that, weโve also been busy viewing houses over the past couple of weeks ๐กโจ, including the property I mentioned in my last post that we were supposed to see. While the house itself was lovely in some ways, it unfortunately turned out to be much smaller than we expected and was surrounded by a huge building site ๐๏ธ, which completely changed the feel of the area. Howeverโฆ last week we viewed another property and instantly fell in love with it ๐ It just had such a nice feeling about it from the moment we walked through the door, and we could really picture ourselves there. At the moment weโre still trying to gather a bit more information and weigh everything up carefully before deciding whether we want to move forward, but itโs definitely exciting to finally find somewhere that genuinely feels right ๐ซ On a slightly different note, I also finally managed to speak with the other orthodontist Iโd been waiting to hear back from ๐ฆท๐ They were honestly so kind and helpful, which immediately made me feel more reassured about everything. They gave me some really useful advice regarding the issues Iโm currently experiencing and recommended that I contact my general dentist as the next step, which is what Iโm in the process of sorting out now. At the minute, itโs just a case of trying to get an appointment at a time thatโs actually convenient and manageable for me to get there, which can sometimes be easier said than done ๐ But hopefully Iโll be able to get things moving soon because itโll be nice to finally have some proper answers and support.
We also ended up making a couple of trips to the hospital recently as my mum needed to have her bloods done ๐ฅ Unfortunately the first visit didnโt exactly go to plan as they refused to do them because she didnโt have a paper form with her โ despite the request apparently being sent electronically beforehand ๐ The whole thing ended up feeling like a complete waste of time and to make matters worse, some of the nurses were quite rude and acted really unprofessionally when I quietly made a passing comment to my mum about it. Even as I backed away and was leaving, I was still shouted at, which honestly left me feeling quite shocked and uncomfortable. Thankfully, when she went back another day, things were much smoother, and she had a completely different nurse who was much kinder and more understanding ๐ Sometimes one positive interaction really can make all the difference. One of the nicest parts of the past week, though, was finally getting to see my sister and her family again over the weekend ๐ฅน๐ It genuinely feels like forever since we were all last together โ Christmas to be exact! Life has just been so busy for all of us recently that finding the time has been difficult, which made it even more special when we finally managed it. I absolutely loved spending time with my nephews again because theyโre growing and changing so quickly every single time I see them ๐ฅบ From the moment we walked through the door I was immediately dragged into playing a game which ended up being both highly addictive and very competitive ๐ Even though I was in so much pain with my ribs at the time, I didnโt want to let it stop me from being fully present and making memories with them ๐ It was also really lovely to just sit and have a proper grown-up catch up with my sister because I truly miss her everyday. Althoughโฆ we did arrive slightly later than planned after my dad accidentally took a wrong turn and sent us all on a bit of a wild goose chase first ๐ Thankfully, we all saw the funny side of it, which definitely made the journey a little more memorable!
With everything thatโs been happening lately โ from stressful hospital visits and emotional moments to slower, more meaningful memories with family โ itโs really reminded me how important it is to slow down and appreciate the moments that matter most ๐ค Which actually leads me quite nicely into this weekโs blog post, all about embracing The Slow Travel Mindset.
Sometimes we become so focused on seeing everything that we forget to actually experience where we are ๐ฟโจ Travel can so easily turn into packed itineraries, early mornings, rushed photos, and constantly moving from one place to the next without ever really slowing down enough to take it all in. But lately, Iโve been trying to appreciate the quieter moments a little more โ the slower mornings, familiar places, unexpected conversations and the little details that would normally pass me by unnoticed. Thereโs something really comforting about allowing yourself to pause instead of always rushing ahead, which is exactly what inspired this weekโs blog post, all about embracing The Slow Travel Mindset ๐ค

Thereโs a quiet kind of pressure that often comes with travel โ the pressure to wake up early, see everything, tick every box and make every second count โ๏ธ Somewhere along the way, travelling started to feel less about truly experiencing a place and more about trying to complete it. Days become so full that by the end of a trip, you can come home feeling more exhausted than refreshed, even after visiting somewhere beautiful. But what if travel didnโt have to feel so rushed? ๐ค Slow travel isnโt about doing less for the sake of it, itโs about experiencing more in a softer, more intentional way. Itโs choosing to stay a little longer instead of constantly moving on, allowing your days to unfold naturally rather than planning every single moment and noticing the little things you may have otherwise rushed past ๐ธ The warmth of sunlight through a cafรฉ window, the quiet hum of a street in the morning, finding comfort in returning to the same place twice โ those small moments often end up meaning the most. When you stop trying to fit everything in, something shifts. You begin to slow down, breathe a little easier and actually appreciate where you are instead of always thinking about where you need to be next โจ

You donโt need to tick every box.
Sometimes, the most meaningful part is simply remembering that you can slow down.
A Gentle Slow Travel Checklist โจ
Choose fewer places, stay a little longer

Sometimes the most meaningful experiences come from staying still. When you give yourself more time in one place, it begins to feel familiar โ less like a stop, and more like somewhere you truly got to know.
Leave space in your plans for nothing at all

Not every moment needs to be filled. Some of the most peaceful parts of travel come from the pauses โ the quiet in-between where nothing is expected of you.
Walk instead of rushing transport when you can

Walking slows everything down in the best way. You notice the details, the sounds, the rhythm of a place โ things youโd miss if you were rushing past.
Notice the streets, not just the landmarks

Itโs often the side streets, not the main attractions, that stay with you. The quiet corners, the everyday scenes โ they tell a softer, more honest story.
Sit somewhere quiet and just be

Find a place to pause, even for a little while. No agenda, no distractions โ just sitting, observing, letting the moment exist as it is.
Return to a place you loved

Thereโs something comforting about going back. The second visit always feels different โ slower, softer, like you belong there just a little more.
Start your morning slowly

Mornings donโt have to begin with rushing. A slow start โ a warm drink, soft light, a quiet moment โ can shape the whole day more gently.
Let yourself pause without guilt

Rest isnโt something you have to earn. If you feel like stopping, sitting, or slowing down, let that be enough.
Notice the small details

Itโs the little things that often hold the most beauty โ the way light falls, the texture of a surface, the quiet details that are easy to overlook.
Take photos slowly, not just quickly

Instead of capturing everything, try capturing what feels meaningful. Slower photography often tells a deeper story.
Look up more often

Itโs easy to focus only on whatโs in front of you, but thereโs so much above โ skies, architecture, light โ waiting to be noticed.
Put your camera down sometimes

Not every moment needs to be documented. Some are meant to be experienced fully, without a lens in between.
Follow what feels interesting, not just whatโs popular

You donโt have to go where everyone else goes. Sometimes the most special places are the ones you find by simply following your curiosity.
Spend time in local, everyday places

Travel isnโt only about sights โ itโs about atmosphere. Cafรฉs, small shops, quiet streets โ these are the places where you feel a destination.
Slow down your evenings

As the day winds down, let yourself slow with it. Evenings donโt need to be busy โ they can be calm, warm, and quietly reflective.
Let some moments stay unplanned

Not everything needs structure. Leaving space for spontaneity often leads to the most memorable parts of a trip.
Rest when your body asks you to

Listening to your body is part of travelling well. Slowing down when you need to doesnโt take away from your experience โ it protects it.
Travel at your own pace, not someone elseโs

Your trip doesnโt have to look like anyone elseโs. Moving at your own pace allows you to enjoy things in a way that actually feels right for you.
Revisit simple moments

A quiet coffee, a familiar street, a repeated routine โ these small returns can become some of the most grounding parts of your trip.
Notice how a place feels, not just how it looks

Beyond what you see, thereโs a feeling to every place. Slowing down gives you the chance to really take that in.
Be present, even in the in-between moments

Waiting, walking, transitioning โ these moments are often overlooked, but they hold their own kind of quiet beauty.
End the day gently

Let your day close in a calm, unhurried way. A soft ending leaves space to reflect, rest, and carry the feeling with you.
Closing Reflection
I think sometimes we put so much pressure on ourselves to make every trip feel โperfectโ that we forget the most meaningful moments are often the simplest ones ๐ค The places that stay with us usually arenโt just the famous landmarks or busy itineraries, but the feelings attached to them โ the peaceful mornings, the familiar cafรฉ you kept going back to, the unexpected moments of calm in between everything else. Slow travel has really reminded me that you donโt need to rush through every experience for it to matter ๐ธ Sometimes the most beautiful memories are made when you simply allow yourself to slow down, be present and take everything in one moment at a time ๐ซ
And just like that, weโve reached the end of another little corner of the internet shared together ๐ค If youโve made it this far, thank you โ truly. Whether youโve been here from the beginning or have only just stumbled across my blog, it honestly means so much knowing that someone, somewhere in the world, took a few moments out of their day to sit down and read my thoughts ๐ธ Iโll never stop being grateful for the quiet little community this space has created over time. I hope todayโs post reminded you that life doesnโt always have to move so quickly, and that sometimes the softest, slowest moments end up becoming the ones we treasure most ๐ซ Until next time, take care of yourselves, slow down when you need to and donโt forget to appreciate the little things ๐ค

This is such a warm, honest, and beautifully human update ๐คโจ
What stands out most is how naturally you weave together the heavy and the light โ hospital worries, family stress, health concerns, house hunting, and then those tender, grounding moments with your nephews and sister. It feels very real, like life as it actually unfolds, not neatly packaged but still full of meaning in between everything.
