Hello all, welcome back for the second part of our Sea Life adventure! I won’t ramble on too much so you can sit back and enjoy the photo’s at your own leisure.
I will put some more information i.e. ticket prices and access at the end of this blog post!
Anemonefish (a.k.a Clown Fish) – Most false clownfish are orange with three white bands on the head and body. The white bands are outlined in black. Their bodies are a bit more than 3 inches (88 millimetres) long on average, but they may grow up to 4 inches (110 mm), according to the Animal Diversity Web (ADW). The tail is rounded and the dorsal fin is lined with 11 spines.
Hippocampus (a.k.a Sea Horse) – There are about 54 species of seahorses worldwide, and possibly as many sub-species. It is often difficult for scientists to identify seahorses because individuals of the same species can vary greatly in appearance. New species continue to be found.Unlike most other fish, seahorses have an exo-skeleton. Their bodies are made up of hard, external, bony plates that are fused together with a fleshy covering. They do not have scales.
Medusozoa (a.k.a Jellyfish) – Jellyfish existed long before us or even the dinosaurs. They have been in the oceans for around 650 million years. The largest jellyfish ever found was a lion’s mane jellyfish with a diameter of 7ft 6in and 120ft long tentacles. A group of jellyfish is called a bloom, swarm or smack. If a jellyfish is cut in two, the pieces can regenerate and create two new jellyfish. Jellyfish do not have brains but instead have nerve nets which detect environmental changes in and coordinate the animal’s responses Penguins – All penguins live south of the equator, from the icy waters of Antarctica to the tropical Galapagos Islands off the coast of Ecuador, almost astride the equator. Penguins are specialized marine birds adapted to living at sea. Some species spend as much as 75% of their lives in the sea – only coming ashore for breeding and malting. Penguin wings are paddle-like flippers used for swimming, not flying. Penguins have denser feathers than most other types of birds having as many as 70 feathers per square inch. These feathers are spaced very closely and tufted with down on the shafts to help keep the penguins warm. Walking around Sea Life was incredible, learning about the animals was very surprising as I genuinely didn’t know some of the information that was posted up on the signs. It was a very good day out and I would definitely recommend visiting when you do have the time 😀*Additional Information*
