Grandpa & Granddaughters Quotes!

Hey everyone how are you all? Ok I hope, I know this post is two days earlier than the usual day I post (usually every week on Wednesday), but this week is gonna be a little different as this past weekend has been harder than most, as seven years ago on the 1st August we sadly lost my Grandad, and I wanted to dedicate this post to him and post it today rather than in the middle of the week as it didn’t feel right to blog about this post quite a few days after the Anniversary of losing him.

I was very close to my Grandad, every Saturday (if the weather was nice) he would start up the barbecue, and we would get the whole family round and play games and then get out the karaoke (without fail), our song we always sang together that neither of us would sing with anyone else was Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus, and to this day whenever I hear that song I smile because of the memories it brings to me! He would also tell me stories as we were sat on the doorstep just watching it thunder and lighten. I have some really fond memories of him that will stay in my heart forever.

I wanted to do a quotes post about Grandpas and Granddaughters to show people of the (special) bond that they can have and to also say there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t miss him. _____________________________________________________________________________________________

Grandpa From Granddaughter Quotes

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

I like to walk
with Grandpa…
He takes his
time you see,
His steps are
little just
like mine;
He stops and
waits for me.

He lets me ask
him questions,
He lets me hold
his hand.
He makes me
feel 10 feet tall,
And I think that
he is grand.

He says there’s
no one like me,
And gold is
what I’m worth.
When I get to
walk with
Grandpa
I’m the luckiest
kid on earth.

Thank you for reading this weeks post, if you’re grandpa or grandma are still alive, take time to cherish the moments you have with them, and let them know you love them. I wish I could do the things we used to do with my grandpa, but I’ll alway have the memories of everything we did and he’ll always be in my heart!

Enjoy the rest of your week and I will see you next Wednesday, back on my original blogging day. Until then, goodbye for now.

  1. Way less sardonic than a piece I did on stuff my grandpappy told me. I’d imagine that has a lot to do with the good relationship you had with your grandfather. Do your best to continue that tradition with the next generation…

  2. I enjoyed your post. It brought back a few things for me. My grandparents both died back in the 1980s (My grandfather was born in 1896). Mom wrote a small book after he died titled “Dad Was Saying Today…”. It was filled with his quotes and the stories he’d tell. She and her brother and sister spent several months putting it together and getting a limited number of copies published for the family. “Papa Fred” and “Miss Autie” were and remain family treasures. We all still think about them. Nowadays I’m also a grandfather, and I hope I can live up to the example he set. 🙂

    1. What a beautiful sharing. One of my grandfathers died when I was in utero, but I still feel a bond with him as he was a prolific writer, speaker, and minister who left behind books through which I could know him and see that I inherited a lot from him. But my other grandfather, Grandpa Spats, was a giant of a man who made each of his 17 grandchildren feel like his favorite. (Though secretly, I really do think I was his favorite! That was how good he was at it!) He smoked cigars, had an infectious laugh, played gin rummy, and allowed me to win most of the time. On my wedding day, he danced with me, and that was our last time together before he died over 50 years ago.
But your sharing touched me most because my husband and I are grandparents and have treasured memories with our grandchildren. My husband never knew how to play and have easy fun until his grandchildren taught him it was okay to be silly. What a gift!

BTW, after reading your profile, I feel I must add that I, too, had CFS, or what they used to call Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome when I was in my forties, what my doctor called the worst case he’d ever seen. I took it very seriously, refused to accept it as a permanent way of being, and found real help with something called Applied Kinesiology. Now in my seventies, I am healthier and more energetic than ever.
I spent much of my time during the nine months of my illness in meditation, which changed my life and set me on the path I am still on today, teaching and writing about meditation, with a particular focus on helping women get in touch with their inner wisdom to guide them to wellness in all aspects of their lives. All offered freely.
Happy to talk further if you have questions.

Thanks again for the touching sharing. – Stephanie
